9-11 Memorial and Museum

These photos are from a return visit in 2023 for my birthday.  This was my third visit to the Memorial and it is definitely a must see location in NYC in my mind.   The outdoor Memorial in the exact location of the twin towers is somber but lovely.   The museum itself has timed entries and our group all had the narrated tour on our own devices.   It certainly has a lot to offer even if you don't do the audio tour, but it is surely more meaningful with it.   It can be downloaded from you device's app store.  Since my last visit, the museum seems to have located most of the "personal" narrations that are so touching in little alcoves all throughout the museum.  Each one is well done and very moving.  Attention is paid not just to the New York City tragedy on 9-11, but also to Shanksville, Pa and Flight 93 and to the Pentagon.

Little Island

An easy walk from the Chelsea Market or a High Line walk this "island" created in the Hudson River has matured over the last year.   My husband and I walked the full extent of the island almost one year ago but the growth of the bushes and trees made it even more enjoyable this year.   For a full explanation of its early days and development see
